Drôme Provençale 2012

We're back! After a very relaxed vacation in the South of France with loads of reading, tanning, swimming, eating and drinking wine. We camped in the mountains, between the vineyards and I can't say it enough; it's heaven up there! Enjoy the photos by clicking on the book below. I urge you to watch it on full-screen mode for the best experience.

If you don't see the album above come back later...

Bye Bye

See you all in a few weeks! And can someone water the plants when I'm away? Thank you.

Weltneuheit

News from Switzerland! And since it's in the German speaking part of Switzerland I can finally use the word Weltneuheit on my blog.

CabriO is a topless cablecar and the world’s first of this kind. It's located near Lucerne and brings you to the top of the Stanserhorn.

The CabriO is the replacement of the old cablecar from 1975, and before this one was established, the visitors of the Stanserhorn even traveled the steep slope up to the summit with a funicular railway. Today, the funicular is only used to bring passengers from Stans at the valley bottom to the lower station of the CabriO.

In contrast to normal cable cars, the cabins of the CabriO are not attached on one wire cable to its top, but on two to its sides. Thanks to this, the passengers enjoy an unobstructed 360° view on the 2320 m long ride.

Frequent Flyer Fashion

Every traveller knows those 3 Letter combinations for the airports in the world. Designing duo Pilot & Captain used these combinations for their collection of very cool t-shirts. Available here.

Roadkill

I love it when my parents return from their vacation! Not only because I like them to be around, but also because of the fantastic pictures my dad takes during their trips. Every time he comes back with a picture like this. A dead animal on the side of a road. Roadkill. A fox this time. Still intact, so freshly run over.

I'm on a Boat!

I love my loyal followers! Every single one of them! But some extra love brews up when I receive pictures like this. Follower and sweet friend H. went to NYC and took this picture of me floating in the Upper Bay. Another addition to my Identity Crisis! Thanks H!

Hallstatt, Austria

Hauntingly beautiful pictures of the town of Hallstatt, Austria in winter, at night by Akos Major were published on the Behance Network. I want to go to there!

François Sagat in Rio

François Sagat spent some time in Brazil and lucky for us he took a lot of pictures and posted them on his website. Here's a selection of pictures that I really love, but check out the rest as well. Sagat and Carnival go hand in hand!

Idan Matalon

Every now and then, a guy pops up all over the internet with pictures and videos. It happened to that deaf guy lipsynching Gaga tunes (which at a certain point became way too professional to be liked by me). And it happened to Chris Crocker for obvious reasons.

Now it happened to Idan Matalon. This cute Israelian bearcub with his hairy chest and sweet eyes hit the web with videos of him lipsynching to Britney and Gaga (to name a few) and loads of ubercute pictures.

Check out his YouTube channel for much more of his musicvideo's shot all over the world. Cool concept to combine travel with making videos like this. I love the interaction with the people he meets while shooting himself! Let's hope he keeps being cute and just the way he is!

Traveling in Style!

Now this is what I call "Traveling in Style"! This small trailer by ProtoHaus hosts everything you need for living. A kitchen, a bathroom, a table, storing space and a nice cozy bed in the rooftop. Besides that, a solar and wind system power this little cuty, so you don't need to stay at campgrounds. I wanna!

Bowling With "Our" Troops

So last weekend I spent in Germany. But it didn't feel like a German weekend at all. No bratwurst, no sauerkraut and no portraits of Angela Merkel on any of the walls I saw.

Instead I saw corndogs, Poptarts, beef jerky and a lot of portraits of unknown generals. I spent my weekend on a US Military base and it really felt like being in the United States. Amazing to see how they took everything with them into their little island on German grounds. And being in Little America it felt appropriate to use my new Hipstamatic Americana lens!

On Saturday we went bowling (ofcourse, because that's what Americans do on a Saturday night). I really suck at bowling, but I had fun. It did feel weird realizing the guys and girls in the other alleys have had such different lives than me. Fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. That's not what I did in my 20's. It was a very special weekend to me.

Oh and there was Milk. Milk for skinny people like me in red. Milk for regular people like you in yellow. And Milk for fat people like my sister (since she quit smoking) in green.

Winter in Ukraine

Winter in The Netherlands is over. We had 2 weeks of ice and snow, but since last Sunday the ice was melted away by the rain.

In the East of Europe it's still pretty cold. Take Ukraine for example. Russian photographer Daniel Korzhonov traveled into the Ukrainian mountains and shot these very beautiful photos.

PodHotel

Two weeks ago I shared with you those beautiful pictures of the Igloo Village near Zermatt. Now it's time for another great Swiss project. The PodHotel near Flims is an eco-friendly group of vacation cabins. At the moment they're covered in 4 meter of snow, which makes this cute little camp even more magical. Much more info at Designboom. Bookings can be done here.

Igloo Village - Zermatt

Because cold is never cold enough for me, I present you the Igloo Village in Zermatt. Located in the middle of the mountains, this village doesn't only look very good, but it has everything you need for a night in the mountains. From nice wining and dining to beautifully decorated rooms and ofcourse... a hottub. And because you're staying in the middle of nature it's good to know that the complete village is CO2-neutral and sustainable!
