Hard Candy 12 x 30 seconds

I just heard 30 seconds of every song from Madonna's upcoming album Hard Candy. Time for a first review and my impressions of these snippets.

1. Candy Shop
Good as an opener for the album. Every album comes with a theme, a look and this song sounds like going with that theme. Not a strong song, just to get you in the mood.

2. 4 Minutes
A grower, so it seemed. Liking this song a lot at the moment. Nothing new here.

3. Give It To Me
Oldskool Madonna with a Timberlake sound to it. Energetic and an atmosphere shouting out dance to me! Think I am gonna like this one!

4. Heartbeat
Love the voice! This song seems to start with the sound of an actual heartbeat. Love her singing "the only one".

5. Miles Away
Sounds like a William Orbit track. Like it, easy on the ears and midtempo. Think it's gonna be a pretty song with a nice recognizable theme to it.

6. She's Not Me
This reminds me of Supernatural. The way she sings this song is in the same voice. I liked that song and with the bells in background I think I am gonna like this one as well... maybe in combination with "Ring My Bell" at the concerts later this year? This could be a favourite like Push was my favourite Confessions track.

7. Incredible
The longest track on the album. Don't really like it in this 30 seconds. But we'll see.

8. Beat Goes On
I have a track named the same since last summer, but it sounds very different. I think it's an improvement, sounds much clearer.

9. Dance 2Night
Again oldskool Madonna with a Timberlake sound. Exactly what the description was for the whole album. This track is what I expected all the tracks would sound like.

10. Spanish Lesson
Great voice and music. The talking part is a bit like "Where Life Begins" from Erotica. Also "Rescue Me" comes to mind. I am very curious about the real spanish lessons in this song.

11. Devil Wouldn't Recognize You
Great ballad-like song, beautiful voice and interesting title. Love her deeper voice and that's just what I got on this track.

12. Voices
Wow, sounds beautiful. Great way of using her voice and I think it's a good closer.

A Perfect Circle

"B" commented on Kelson's tattoo saying it is the symbol for the band "A Perfect Circle". So I googled and found the band's website and this picture above showing the same imperfect perfect circle. Thanks B!

Kelson has a lot to offer as you can see, but the thing I can't take my eyes off, is his beautiful tattoo on his chest. No idea what it means, but the simplicity is nice.

Let's go Outside

Summer's coming! Time to open all the windows and let the warm air into your house. And when it gets too hot you just go outside. I wouldn't call myself a nudist, but I love to be naked outside. Not at the sea, but high in the french alps. Take my clothes off, let the sun warm my white butt and cooling down in a mountain river.

Keep it Together

Living in a relationship for almost 15 years now I wanna write something about how to handle being together all the time.

I sometimes read people's opinions about being in a longterm relationship saying you should both have your own life as well. I myself am one of them, I urge people to do things on their own. But what am I doing? I must admit that Peter and I spend most time that we are off together. From fridaynight till mondaymorning we act like siamese twins. Also our evenings on weekdays we spend together, both behind our computers or on bed watching television.

Unhealthy? Maybe, but we both enjoy it.

Peter works a lot abroad, so on the days he's not in the Netherlands I spend time with other people. But last weekend Peter had a social meeting without me and I have to say that rarely happens. I encourage him to do so, but I also understand he works a lot and loves to relax in the weekends (happens to be with me, I don't complain).

Conclusion: I really think it's good to do things apart from each other but never in a forced way. Find your own needs and act to them.

Gay Cemetery

As you might or may or may not have heard, Denmark is the first country in the world with a cemetery for gay people. Without much protest some people created their own special place to spend those days (weeks? years? eternity?) after life.

As a person who doesn't like to join all those gay things in life you can imagine how I feel about spending my afterlife between all those gays. I don't like gay bars, gay clubs, gay holidayresorts, gay skiweeks, gay petstores and gay hairdressers. I wouldn't know exactly if I really dislike that last one, because I don't go to hairdressers.

My point is that I don't like segregation. I understand that some people might feel more freely in a totally gay environment, but I still think it's not good for acceptation. I also never felt the need to be in an exclusively gay environment. There are too many great straight people to exclude.

Only good part about this cemetery is that you have the opportunity to spend your afterlife next to Hans Christian Andersen, one of the best writers of the 19th century.

Acceptable in the 80's

This song and video represent my youth. The video looks like being made by Jean Baptiste Mondino or jean Paul Goude. The sound is very much Duran Duran and Death or Alive. Being born in the 70's I got my consciousness in the 80's.

Got any Tattoo's Brad?

Easy on the Eyes

Apart from the hunk on these pictures I mainly place them because they are so easy on the eyes. The lines, the white spaces, the clear colours... that's what I like!

Smoking

Ofcourse we know smoking is bad for us.
Back in 2004 we quit without any struggle. Okay, our bodies protested heavily by being tired at 10 pm and we really had to work out to stay in shape, but we felt good about being smoke-free. Then at Queen's Day 2006 we felt strong enough to be drunk and try one cigarette. Bad choice! Within a week we were hooked again.

Now we are really planning to stop smoking again. We told the nice girl who sells us our packs of Camel already and now we have to make it public, so people can punish us if we start again.

So let's pick a date. What better date to pick than May 1st 2008? One day after Queen's Day, which makes it a nice two-year period of bad habits.
