Can you tell me where I am?

No Daan, I have no idea where you are.

I thought at first that it was somewhere in the UK (based on cars, and style of houses) but now I'm not so sure. If those are tennis courts, they look like clay courst so that would be somewhere in europe.

It looks like it might be the campus of a college or university with a sports complex on one side of the river. But the football field is a practice field not one for major games.

I just noticed that there seems to be another river under your left foot, so there's a river junction here.

No amount of googling has led me to the answer but I figured someone had to comment...

I guess this picture is way too common for people to recognize anything in it.

Here's a clue: the neighbourhood in the upper right is filled with embassies and the river has a length of 295 kilometers.

You are in Bern(e), Switzerland!

Thanks for the clue, it helped a great deal. Googling "river 295 km" returned a wikipedia list of rivers of Switzerland and the name of the Aar, the longest river that both rises and ends entirely within Switzerland. That's something I did not know.

Those figures are all nice to know, but the best way to experience the Aare is to swim in it!

It's Bern indeed, one of my favourite places in the world.
