Dear Vanilla Ice
Dear Vanilla Ice,
I had such a crush on you and was so ashamed to admit that back in the very early 90's. Even when Madonna asked you to join her in her SEX book, I never ever dared to admit that I wanted to lay my head on your white, troubled, gangsta chest! You wanna know why?
Because of that very bad music you made and that very horrible musicvideo you did. How could a 16 y/o gay guy ever live with that? It was so NOT the correct thing! There was no vogueing in it, no bad-ass beat and no cute guys in your video. Well there was you, but I never admitted to that remember?
I am glad to see you're still alive and kicking in this photoshoot for Interview magazine and I am also glad you made it to be one of my cult men from the last 25 years. Yo man! Let's get out of here. Word to your mother.

In The Playroom by Jonathan Hobin
In The Playroom is a provocative series of photographs
by Jonathan Hobin:
“In the Playroom is a metaphor for the impossibility of a protective space safe from the reach of modern media. The quizzical disposition of youth and the pervasive nature of the media are symbolically represented in my images through tableau-vivant re-enactments of the very current events that adults might wish to keep out of their child’s world. Just as children make a game of pretending to be adults as a way to prepare and ultimately take on these roles in later life, so too do they explore things that they hear or see, whether or not they completely understand the magnitude of the event or the implications of their play.” images via The Behance Network

Craig by Thomas Bourry
Last week I found an e-mail in my inbox with examples of Cologne based photographer Thomas Bourry, aka Sphinx. Beautiful black and white portraits of a wide variety of men. This shoot with Craig is my absolute favourite. Dark, raw and a perfect location. Expect more of Thomas Bourry in the future and in the meantime, click here for his other shoots.

At the Lake - Amy Bennett
I love these paintings by Amy Bennett. I love the way she created her own reality in miniature and painted this reality resulting in these beautiful paintings that ooze an atmosphere of lazy long summers and cold, frosty winters. But they also remind me of the tragedy that happened in Norway somehow; lifeless figures at a paradise-like coast.
Below is a picture from her self-created 3D miniature landscape devided in winter and summer. Awesome work!
