Gaultier Furniture

Okay, what's the deal with these chairs designed by Jean Paul Gaultier? They are featured in the Maison & Objet 2010 exposition (see clip here). But when I think back of the time I had a subscription on SKY Magazine, back in the VERY early 90's I am sure I've seen them back then in that magazine (does that still exist? It was brilliant!).

Very sure, because I remember designing a whole house around these chairs. Back then I was sure I was gonna be an architect and won 2 prizes for 2 designs. That was before I knew you had to be good at math in order to become an architect...

IKEA - Herding Cats

This is what happens when you release 100 cats in an IKEA store. They make it their home and that's exactly how IKEA wants you to feel when you visit their store. The result is a nice advertisement as you can see below.

Italians in Speedos

I didn't watch (maybe because I didn't even know it took place), but the Italian waterpolo team made it to the finals in the European Championship in Zagreb, Croatia. This picture was on a dutch newssite today. Pretty intensely beautiful! And hairy swimmers... wow!

I've been seeing these photo-collections by dutch photographers Ari Versluis and Ellie Uyttenbroek in a lot of museums over the last couple of years. Collections of people all looking like each other, whether they are subcultures or just the way those people dress. It's amazing to see how the individuals all look the same.
