Known as Push Button House by architect Adam Kalkin, it opens up to reveal a complete room featuring a bed to sleep on, a couch for lounging, a dining table, a bathroom area and a modest library. This architectural installation uses hydraulic power to unveil the room in 90 seconds' time. Sweet! And want!

Home is Wherever with You

So you got your BILLY. And your EKTORP? But you haven't got a home. Well, IKEA is your best friend and thinks ahead. So they created this house that you can buy for only $ 86.000. Not large, but big enough for two. Living room with kitchen, bedroom and bathroom and enough storage space. Complete it with your IKEA furniture and you'll have the perfect nest.

La Muralla Roja

La Muralla Roja (The Red Wall) is an appartment building designed by Spanish architect Ricardo Bofill and built in 1973. It's located in the Spanish town Calpe and faces the Mediterranean Sea.

The outside promises what the name suggests. A red wall. Looks stunning in that landscape, but the surprise is inside. Blue walls and staircases that could have been designed by M.C. Escher. Stunning building!

LEGO's First Official Haunted House

Maybe inspired by those awesome Victorian houses I posted last year, LEGO decided to create their own Haunted House. This beauty will be released this fall and exists of 2064 pieces. And it comes with 6 cute figures, some of them glowing in the dark. Cute!

Tiny Bachelor Pad

Barcelona-based photographer Christian Schallert turned a tiny run down space on the top floor of a building into a modern functional studio apartment.

This tiny 24 square meter (258 square feet) apartment has a kitchen that is hidden behind the swing-out wooden panels. The movable furniture from the bed to the dining table can be neatly stored away when not in use. Check out the video at the bottom of this post to hear Christian talk about his views on living. His vision for the most part reflects my vision. Too bad I have 2 left hands.

Hôtel de Michelin

Awesome! Takanori Aiba (1953 in Yokohama, Japan) creates these beautiful Bonsai-like buildings. Hôtel de Michelin is my favourite, a beautiful miniature featuring the famous Michelin Man. But he made a lot more. Check out his portfolio. Really great works! Still haven't decided if it's architecture or art, so I file this post with both labels.

Traveling in Style!

Now this is what I call "Traveling in Style"! This small trailer by ProtoHaus hosts everything you need for living. A kitchen, a bathroom, a table, storing space and a nice cozy bed in the rooftop. Besides that, a solar and wind system power this little cuty, so you don't need to stay at campgrounds. I wanna!

Ordos - A Modern Chinese Ghost Town

China is booming. The economy grows and grows and the government keeps investing in new projects. But not all money is well spent. Apart from the constructors, nobody lives in the town of Ordos. It's just too expensive for the Chinese population to live there. Photographer Michael Christopher Brown visited this modern ghost town and shot these very desolate photos.

PodHotel

Two weeks ago I shared with you those beautiful pictures of the Igloo Village near Zermatt. Now it's time for another great Swiss project. The PodHotel near Flims is an eco-friendly group of vacation cabins. At the moment they're covered in 4 meter of snow, which makes this cute little camp even more magical. Igloo Village - Zermatt

Because cold is never cold enough for me, I present you the Igloo Village in Zermatt. Located in the middle of the mountains, this village doesn't only look very good, but it has everything you need for a night in the mountains. From nice wining and dining to beautifully decorated rooms and ofcourse... a hottub. And because you're staying in the middle of nature it's good to know that the complete village is CO2-neutral and sustainable!

Beeld & Geluid*

Today we went to Beeld & Geluid*. Our national archive of television and radio is housed in one of the most colourful buildings of our country. Inside is a beautiful museum (although museum isn't really a good term, so they call it Experience) in which you can see and hear loads and loads and loads and loads of old Dutch tv-shows. Great day! Back with square eyes from watching hours of Big Brother Season One, back in 1999 when Reality Tv was still boring to watch and therefor so entertaining.
