Beatrix

Yesterday, seven million Dutchies witnessed our Queen on television announcing the end of an era. She decided to end her job as Queen, which means we are having our last Queen's Day this year. 

And which also means we're getting a King again. King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima will reign our country starting April 30th 2013.

Inside of Me

Today I had a camera crew up my ass. Which is not something happening to me every day, so today was kind of special.

Been having stomach aches for months now and since they got worse in the last few weeks I decided to pay my doctor a quinquennial visit. 

She decided to throw me a party today and send some people into me. So this morning I laid down on my side and three people entered me from behind. With cameras. And shovels. And pickaxes. They spent about an hour inside and came back with relatively good news. 

It's not a tumor, it's not cancer, but I do indeed have an infection. I will hear more about the infection in two weeks, but at the moment I'm already very much relieved it's not The Big C. That was Peter's biggest fear. Peter, the best husband in the world. Who guided me through this morning with the combination of a professional and a lover rolled into one fantastic person!

News of the Week

Maisie the Goat suffers from arthritis and has to wear wellington boots to help her condition. Because of all the rain, 12-year-old Maisie was constantly squelching around in puddles and mud. So her keepers have provided her with these pink boots to protect her hoofs from rotting.

Side Effects

That's right. I totally forgot about this one! The effect I hate most about quiting my bad habit is the fact that I want to go to bed at 8.30 pm. Even after a day like today, when I had the whole day off, I feel tired like I ran a complete marathon.

But no way that I'm gonna do a Goodnight post at 9 am! I won't let the quitting be my next bad influence! Let's have some speed to stay up late!

Happy Birthday, Bitch!

It's Britney, Bitch! And it's her 31st birthday today! There's only one Queen of Pop and that's M, but there are several princesses. Britney has been my favourite princess for years now, so I'll celebrate her birthday with her new video which she did with Will.i.am called Scream and Shout. Happy birthday, Bitch!

Sinterklaas

Yesterday, Sinterklaas arrived in our country. Like every year, not everything went well. The boat with the gifts has disappeared, so we Dutch are not sure if we'll get our presents this year. Fingers crossed that the boat will be found before December 5th!

Sandy Did It.

It wasn't me. It was Sandy. Sandy made this mess. Last week she raged over the East Coast in the USA and although the people over there got the catastroph, we over here got the beautiful pictures.

Because no matter how big a disaster is, it always brings out the best in photographers. Take this beautiful set by Andrew Burton for instance. An amusement park in New Jersey all messed up.

Have a good day today and don't forget to bring out your vote. Whether it's for Obama or Romney, I don't care. Just go voting. As long as it is for Obama.

These pictures are from Madonna's very funny Rock the Vote commercial back in 1990. She's still very much political engaged these days and that's one of the reasons she keeps being relevant. Period.

Oh Mother Nature! Thank you for this beautiful gift! We've been in antici............ pation for days now and yesterday you finally gave us what we want. Our first passion flower! And you already gave away a little hint of what's yet to come. Will all those buds result in extreme beauty like this one? One can only hope.

Madonna - Everybody

Yesterday was a special day. Madonna's first single Everybody celebrated its 30th anniversary! And in those 30 years she never stopped delivering music. The artwork for Everybody is some of her best in my not so humble opinion, even though her face isn't on it.

Where's Beatrix?

Where's Waldo Beatrix? That's what a lot of my fellow Dutchies asked themselves today. 

Our Queen did her annual speech about the current situation of our country, but instead of listening what she had to say, I played a game of Where's Beatrix since her dress looked so much like the background of her chair and kind of made her look like a big and beautiful floating head. I found her several times by the way...

Don't Just Stand There

Don't just stand there. Let's get to it. 
Pick a side. There's nothing to it. Vote!

For the 6th time in 10 years, we Dutchies head out to vote again. Lately our governments seem to fail the 4 years that used to be the norm. Unlike for example the USA we have many, MANY political parties (21 to be precise) which makes it hard to form a stable government.

But we did our duty again after work and keep our fingers crossed for a nice combination between left, right, green and social for the next four years.

9 to 5

Working 9 to 5 these days. What a way to make a living! And I mean that in the most positive sense.

One day before we went on vacation I heard I got the job I applied for. After weeks of assessments and job-interviews I finally got that job.

And now I've already been filling three weeks with my new job. I almost feel like a normal person and I enjoy every minute of it. Great company, great bunch of co-workers and learning new things every day.

The only downside is that I don't find the time to update my blog as much as I want to. Can you forgive me?
