Vacation Part One - Switzerland

We started our vacation in Berne. I visited camping Eichholz for the very first time in 1987 and have come back a lot since then. To me it's one of the best campsites I know. Situated in a park next to the river with the zoo across the river. Last year they did a big renovation so toilets, showers and cooking area was completely new to us. They did a great job using wood, concrete and steel.

Unfortunately it was raining when we arrived, so we spent our first evening inside our new tent, reading and relaxing. After a really rainy night we woke up and went into the city. It's a 15 minute walk on the border of the Aare. And when we reached the city, the sun did as well.

Bern always feels much like coming home. Still haven't figured out why but I feel very comfortable in that city. So we spent a few days there, did some trips in the southwest of Switzerland and then drove to Zürich with a big tour through the alps. They looked so beautiful and mysterious in the fog. We really enjoyed that.

In Zürich we spent a few days with our dear and adorable friend Parand. A relaxing time with good food, nice company (which fell asleep very much;)) and finally some time to discover this beautiful city. The weather was very good, so we spent a lot of time outside, enjoying the beautiful views on the mountains and the relaxed life on both sides of the river.

Then it was time to move on again, heading south. We drove the Gotthard pass, because it's no fun driving through very long tunnels. After a breakfast in Andermatt we came across one of the most beautiful places in the alps. Rough, rocky and desolated. We then drove down and entered Italy.
