Cargo de Nuit

When I was younger, so much younger than today, the "Groninger Museum" in Groningen had an exhibition about musicvideo's. They were all shown in buildings especially built for this exposition. Later it became clear to me that these "little" buildings were all studies for the new museum. It was on this exhibition I saw the work of Les Rita Mitsouko who I really fell in love with.

Anyway, I also saw a video and afterwards I could not remember who the artist or director was. I thought it was Tom Waits, but no videos by him featured naked working men. Years later I discovered whose video this was. It was Axel Bauer, some 80's guy from France and the song is called Cargo de Nuit.

And indeed, half-naked men in the video, but after becoming totally pornificated in the last 10 years it doesn't have the same effect on me anymore. Yesterday I found this rare live performance of the song. And I suddenly understand why I liked this song so much.

That reminds me: must do a post soon about how I often start to like music/songs/artists, just by the visuals and not the music.

Great post... so 80s!
I have also bought some great albums purely based on the cover art. Only found your blog recently and loving it. Cheers.
