I'm terminally hopeless when it comes to maps of any kind and geography. I see snowy terrain and that's about it.

Methinks you're in Aspen, Colorado.Another guess that worked...though not without that clue you left for The Pansy Bastard.This was sneaky, mind. Until you zoom in, you don't get the correct coloration. Googlemaps is sneaky that way.
Aspen it is! And I totally agree with you Scotrock; not fair that the colours change when you zoom in... sometimes you zoom in from summer to winter....
