Photographer Jan Banning did these beautiful portraits on bureaucrats worldwide. And indeed, the only thing these people have in common is the bureau in front of them. And to think one day far far in the past I was one of them.... and now I'm not... that makes me happy!

What sadness in the eyes of the doctor or nurse in the second one!... He seems to be crushed by the weight of the destitute bareness around him.
Believe me or not, but wherever a bureaucrat is working, that sad (or vacant) look in the eyes is a global thing.... hell, I nearly died on a spot like that!
Hurray for your revival, then!
Come to think of it, I might have that very look in my eyes some days, in front of the students...
Oh dear! Am I zombieing myself?
I was a teacher as well and a big difference from being a bureaucratic.... maybe I had the GOOD students?
I have taught in the US and over here in France, you know, and I'm convinced students are the same all over, don't you think?
They bring with them what they are, with all their varicoloured differences. That's the gratifying part of it.
I think I was fortunate that all my students were really eager to become great photographers and they were all eager to learn... still Facebook buddies with some of them.
