Madonna - Broken (I'm Sorry)

Apparently this is one of the left-overs Madonna recorded for her Celebration CD in 2009. Sounds good for a left-over. Funny how all these never released songs pop up in bundles. It's been raining "new" material all week!

First Flieger in Grindelwald

The First Flyer in Grindelwald is a great new thrill-ride. Up to 4 persons can glide down next to each other over a distance of 800 meters with speeds up to 84 km/h. I like rollercoasters, I like mountains, I like Switzerland and I like cableways. This definately sounds like a ride for me!

As you can see it operates both in winter and summer.

Augmented City 3D by Keiichi Matsuda

The architecture of the contemporary city is no longer simply about the physical space of buildings and landscape, more and more it is about the synthetic spaces created by the digital information that we collect, consume and organise; an immersive interface may become as much part of the world we inhabit as the buildings around us.

Augmented Reality (AR) is an emerging technology defined by its ability to overlay physical space with information. It is part of a paradigm shift that succeeds Virtual Reality; instead of disembodied occupation of virtual worlds, the physical and virtual are seen together as a contiguous, layered and dynamic whole. It may lead to a world where media is indistinguishable from 'reality'. The spatial organisation of data has important implications for architecture, as we re-evaluate the city as an immersive human-computer interface. (source)

Frank & The Fishes

The things you find on YouTube... I feel like such a voyeur watching this (probably very private) video.

Veganized!

Above is an artist impression of a new hotel in Zaandam, a city in the Netherlands. Zaandam is known for its typical green buildings and is an image of the dutch spread all over the world (especially in China and Japan for some reason) as you can see on the picture below.

WAM Architects decided to use this image for this new hotel. And they completely Veganized the typical dutch facade into this hideous big building with stacked houses and typical colours. I'm definately going to see this thing for myself very soon.

And for my Dutch speaking visitors, here's an interview with the architect:

Uitboulevard 2010

Yesterday was an unexpectedly fantastic day! Was it the weather? No, it was sunny, which was nice, but that wasn't the reason. Was it the fact that our city's Cultural Season got its big opening? Part of it, but not the main reason. The real reason why yesterday was so fucking fantastic was because our dearest friends and sweetest neighbours all gathered together in one of our city parks and had a fantastic day together! Listening to music, enjoying beer and wine, chatting, goofing and a lot of picture-taking! It almost (do I dare say that out loud??) like a small version of Queen's Day!
