Happy 125th!

I've always been a bad one with birthdays and the non-living objects around me are no exception. Last weekend the Eiffel Tower celebrated its 125th Birthday, so a big fat CONGRATULATIONS to this beautiful, slim topped landmark! (photos by Fred Goudon)

Goodnight

Museum Het Valkhof

This afternoon we visited Museum "Het Valkhof" in Nijmegen. It was grey and cold, so a perfect day for some indoor artsy fartsy activity!

There was ancient religious art.

There was creepy modern art.

And then there was the exhibition by Erik Sep. A young, Dutch artist who created a beautiful fantasyland in miniature. Awesome installations made out of everything you can imagine. Miniature Railway 2.0 (but no train running through this afternoon). His cities exist of graffiti and decay, but also a lot of new buildings being built. And that's the beauty of this installation. It's never finished and Erik keeps working on it while it's on display. Awesome!

Roald Mail!

Who didn't grow up with the books by Roald Dahl? (if you can answer that question with "me" then I feel sorry for you!) In the UK, you can now buy a special set of six Royal Mail stamps, which show the work of illustrator Quentin Blake whose drawings are synonymous with Dahl's stories. The stamps feature six of the author's best novels including Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, The Twits and The Witches.

His daughter Ophelia Dahl said: "I'm so excited that Royal Mail has honoured my father, Roald Dahl, with these stamps. My dad wrote thousands of letters home throughout his life and never dreamed that one day one of his own characters would grace a stamp."

Sunday Morning

What a beautiful way to wake up on a Sunday morning.
