2009 marks the 40th birthday of one of my favourite books when I was a child. The french "Le Petit Nicolas" (Little Nicolas) by René Goscinny with illustrations by Jean-Jacques Sempé. My mom is a French teacher, so yes, these fantastic french books ended up in The Netherlands as well. Today I found out they made these sweet little books into a movie. I don't know about you but childhood memories being turned into a movie is always a tricky thing. I just watched the trailer and luckily Agnan is as irritating as in the books and Alceste still LOVES his food. It's pretty awesome how they turned Sempé's simple lines into a real motion picture!
