The Rotating Kitchen by Zeger Reyers was put into motion during the opening of the exhibition "Eating the Universe" at the Kunsthalle Düsseldorf, Germany, last Friday. It will keep rotating slowly till February 28th 2010.
Hmmm... Looks like my life aover the last 18 months... Now, seriously, the power of the installation, if any, is in the inexorability of the rotation. So it just makes me smile when they stop it for the sake of the interview of the artist or whomever. The concept of the vanity of things doesn't stand long in front of the vanity of the concept. The artist before their art, rather than IN their art. Ha!
