Acceptable in the 80's

Where the Hell is Willem? #1

So you like playing games but you have no clue about all those lyrics I wordle up? Maybe geography is your thing! From now on I will fly over the earth and show you certain areas. Sometimes from a large distance, sometimes zoomed in. Your job to tell me where I am.

We start with an easy one. Can you tell me where I am?

And why Willem? Willem is my second name. I hardly use it (Peter uses it when I am misbehaving) but it alliterates good with "where", so that's the reason. Please keep calling me Daan though;)

Guest-Entry: The US Elections

Last weekend I posted that I don't know any McCain voters. I got a comment by Kevin from Simple Answers to Complex Questions that he already voted and he voted republican. I was really curious about his thoughts on this and I was glad he offered to do a guest-entry on The Zephyr-Files. So here you go, Kevin.

I am a gay man who is too old to be young and too young too be old. I am a permanent absentee voter here in California. I live in Los Angeles and believe it is one of the best cities in the world. I voted this year for McCain and Palin. I have had some people ask me incredulously "WHY". My initial response is that it is my right to vote for who ever I want. I don't care how other people feel about their voting rights, just my own.

I did not come to this decision without a great deal of thought. I am a registered Independent voter here in California so I had the choice to vote it the primary election as either a Republican or Democrat. I chose to vote for a Democrat. In the primary I vote for Obama. I feel that the Clinton's are criminals and have used the political system to gain wealth and fame at the expense of the citizens of this country. Their history is on record. Impeachment is not to be taken lightly. I voted in the primary against the Clintons. To that end goes my belief that I detest lies and mendacity in any politician. Which means really I detest them all.

That being said, the best determination of future behavior is past behavior. John McCain has a long record that I can look at and say he did good here and maybe not so good there. No so for Obama. He is a liberal junior Senator. What I do know about his past behavior is this. He is a liar about his past associations. He lied about public campaign funding. He never was in the service. I have a lot of respect for any individual who signs up for military duty. I trust a man who fights for his nation.

As for the much aligned Sarah Palin I had this recent conversation at a trendy Hollywood spot the other day. I said, "Sarah Palin reminds me of my Mom" ( I have four brothers). My friend responded, "Sarah Palin is not friendly to gays." I said, "Neither is my mom." However I grew up watching my mother be a strong individual and teaching me that I have the right to be the best I can be. I believe Sarah Palin is cut from that same cloth. A strong American women/mother and she may not like gays but I bet she likes me. I also believe that Sarah Palin, unlike the Clintons, is not a Washington insider and will do what is best for the average American. One of which I am. I would love to see the day when any American can run for president without the bullshit of Washington politics or the influence of lobbyists. I believe my decision should invoke no anger or hatred.

Dolly Parton said she would never run for office because we don't need another two boobs in office. I say we don't need two dicks in office.

What song can see wordled up above?

I Survived the J-Man!

Speaking of turning 34. Jesus only made it to the age of 33. So now I am older than Jesus ever was. Okay, he was leader of a major religion when he was my age, but hey, I got my blog full of naked men and stuff about gay-culture.... that's important as well.... isn't it? No? Oh, okay.... sorry.

Weekends that Cream my Pants

Oh what a nice weekend I had! Last friday Peter picked up our dear, dear german/swiss/persian friend from the airport and drove home. We had dinner together and a nice evening catching up with drinks and talk. At 0.00h we celebrated my birthday. Besides kisses I got Antidote by Victor & Rolf from Peter and a really great giftback from Parand. I think he was a bit overwhelmed how happy I was with the items in the bag. The best item is a little square empty book with the logo of his airline on it. Hell, everything Swiss makes me cream my pants!

The next morning we went out for part II of Peter's present. He got me a one year subscription to our local zoo. Really good gift! Then right back home to receive all 6 parents and I got spoiled again. My mom forgot she already gave us a new tent for my birthday and brought another gift. My parents in law forgot their present from home, so they made a stop at the ATM on their way from the trainstation to our house. My dad gave me a really cool swiss army knive with a 8GB USB function. Sweeet! As you can see on top the cats loved the wrapping more than the presents. They played all day and night with it (thanks for the beautiful shot Parand!).

In the evening we went out for dinner with a bunch of friends in Otterlo. Hunting season started some weeks ago, so we went WILD on our food. Again lots of presents.... all dvd's this time. Got the 9th season of Roseanne (series completed) the 11th of The Simpsons, the 1st of 30 Rock (LOVING IT!) and two dutch series. Oh, and a very nice oil lamp my sister bought in Kopenhagen. Food was great, company perfect and I won the bet on our way back (and so did everyone else).

The sunday was a lazy sunday. We slept in, spent sometime in the city without buying anything and later on we dropped Parand off at the airport again for his trip back to Zürich.

Now we're closing the weekend with gin-tonics and iTunes.

Catherine!

On november 24th Catherine Ringer will release the concert she gave at La Cigale earlier this year on CD and DVD. It was the concert she did after her husband and other half of Les Rita Mitsouko, Fred Chichin died. I haven't seen the concert yet, but heard it must have been really really powerfull. Can't wait for the release!
And to celebrate the release they held a little competion for a promo of the cd which I won ofcourse. I won every prize of their contests so far.... guess there are not many people on their mailinglist...

Vote!

Two more days and then one of the most important elections will finally come to a climax. Last night I was proudly saying that I don't know anyone that will vote for the republicans. But is that true? Are there readers out there who vote for McCain instead of Obama?
Well, at least these models from Major Models made up their mind already. Great to see them in their natural habitat by the way, without make up and photoshop they almost look like real people, which I really like!
